My trip around New Zealand

This was going to be an epic trip.

I heard all the stories about the beauty of New Zealand. I read books, blogs, asked friends to share their stories.

I thought I had an idea of what was expecting me.

I could not have been further from the truth.

After months-long preparation, looking for great routes to hike, beautiful landscapes to see, buying all necessary gear, the day of departure finally came. As Songkran festival was about to take over in Thailand, I hopped on a plane set to explore New Zealand.

Details in a new city

“The distances I walk when I move to a new city always surprise me”, a friend and fellow traveler told me a few years ago. And it’s also true for me.

My first steps around Bangkok took me to Wat Pho and Wat Phrah Kaew, impressive temples in Ko Ratanakosin, the birthplace of Bangkok.

Sometimes, you need to look at the small parts of life to appreciate the big things. So I decided to show a detail views. The truly impressive temples in Bangkok were designed with an incredible attention to detail.

Good morning, Bangkok

Philippines, I salute you

“Kuya, Kuya, let me paint your face!”

“Uhhh…?!”

I volunteered at an art even for underprivileged Metro Manila children. One of the stations was about face painting. I had thought that the kids could paint their own faces. I was about to find out that I was wrong. It was about painting the faces of the volunteers.

Great.

Before I had a chance to decline, my face already featured three colorful strokes. As one of the kids at the event, painted my face and reminded me to “please hold still”, I thought about my time in the Philippines.

“What do you like most about Philippines?”

A question that I was asked often. “Hard to say, there is so much I love about this place…” I would usually answer. “How much time do you have?”

Philippines offers everything: great travels, delicious dishes, amazing people, a rich culture, mesmerizing landscapes, incredibly diverse maritime wildlife, active volcanoes, pristine beaches – and millions of bright smiles. It’s naturally hard to pinpoint one reason why Philippines are a great place. So here are some of the main reasons that were substantial to making Philippines a home.
